During these hot days of summer our plants need extra water just like we do. Newly planted trees and shrubs should be watered deeply and thoroughly 3 times per week. Soaker hoses work perfectly for these situations. When hand watering, always use a water wand to difuse pressure to avoid washing away soil. Spray nozzles work better for automobiles and cleaning tasks. A newly seeded or sodded lawn needs water daily, at least the equivalent of 1 inch/week. You may wish to conserve water and not water established lawns as often. The established grass will go dormant and will revive when rain falls pick up. This is an opportune time to identify and apply weed killers to broadleaf weeds. Read and follow product application directions. Certain products should be applied only during specific weather conditions. Applyling broad leaf weed killers now will allow ample time before you may wish to reseed any sections of your lawn. A good time to reseed is after August 15th through September.
We need to be vigilant in our vegetable gardens and scout for any insects or fungus/diseases. Cerbo's has several organic products to prevent or correct these problems. If planning a vacation appoint someone to monitor your garden for you. Many fruits and vegetables might become mature during your travels and will need to be harvested.
Remember to fill your Propane Tanks! Having a spare propane tank ensures you don't run out.
All of us at Cerbo's wish everyone a Happy, Healthy & Enjoyable Summer!
